Module authors: Dr. Pete Vergot, Dr. Jim Nehiley, Liz Felter University of Florida Extension Marketing is a function
of each Extension Faculty member. Extension Marketing is viewed as the set of
activities a professional member of the Extension Faculty needs to fulfill.
University of Florida Extension Marketing is an expectation of the
organization and it is the Extension Faculty who is expected to fulfill the
expectation. Marketing, University of Florida Extension is planned and
starts with the inception of each seminar or presentation and continues right
down to the Extension wordmark and logo
used on the program flyer developed to being used on the evaluation survey. Costs of the
marketing and promotional items should be part of the registration fee and may
actually be paid from the money collected from the previous program.
Consistent use of the University of Florida Extension wordmark from the flyers to the items used such as
pencils, pads, etc, to the Extension shirts creates repetition and therefore a
recognizable daily symbol, which we associate with branding. It is an effort
that must be in the forefront of planning and cannot be allowed to be
forgotten when that happens you loose momentum and have to start over again.
It is important for Extension to gain that name recognition since our future
existence is always questionable. Extension Marketing materials can be purchased on line at: http://logo.ifas.ufl.edu. Marketing items include a supply of long sleeve and short sleeve shirts, T-shirts, baseball caps, straw hats, coffee mugs, gold gator pins, pencils, pads, and pens etc .
